We believe in a team that’s cohesive and collaborative. At Vecna Robotics, we strive for our employees to have a supportive environment to thrive. We sat down with Jacob Byrne, our Director of Customer Success (who used to be in the NFL!), to talk about his background, why he likes working at Vecna Robotics and what he likes to do in his free time.
Tell us a little bit about your job at Vecna Robotics.
JB: I’m a part of the Network Operations Center (NOC). I’m responsible for our Beacon remote support team that is responsible for 24/7 support for our entire fleet. I have my hands in training, maintenance, analytics, and account management.
What has your journey been like to end up at Vecna Robotics?
JB: I attended the University of Wisconsin and majored in business management. I was a tight end in the NFL for the Saints, Texans, and Chargers. From there, I was in account and project management for a marketing, public relations, and crisis management firm. I got my start in robotics in the engineering and operations management field.
What makes Vecna Robotics a great place to work?
JB: Vecna Robotics is full of brilliant people. The teams here are so cohesive, and everyone is so passionate and dedicated to the success of the company. It has allowed me to work with truly gifted individuals to cultivate ideas into reality.
I have never worked with such a close-knit family that cares for the wellbeing and success of each other. The culture that was built here is the building blocks for an incredible success story. The sky is the limit at Vecna Robotics, and I love being a part of it.
What advice do you have for someone trying to break into your field of work?
JB: This is an incredible industry to work in. I highly recommend getting involved in the robotics industry. Always put yourself out there, be open to trying new things, and wearing different hats and commit yourself to learn something new every single day.
Where do you see the robotics industry headed in the next 5-10 years?
JB: The Industry is striving for a more integrated relationship between robotics solutions and human/traditional processes and combining the intellects of humans with the unlimited potential of robotics.
What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work? What do you like to do to relax after work?
JB: As a type one diabetic myself, I enjoy working with various organizations such as JDRF and the American Diabetes Association to help mentor youth with type one diabetes.
For recreational activities, I love everything involved with being outdoors – skiing, boating, hiking, hunting, fishing, golf – anything that lets me get my Great Dane out of my apartment!
What’s your favorite T.V show or movie? Why?
JB: Thor Ragnarök – I’m a huge Marvel fan and may or may not have dressed up as Thor for Halloween on more than one occasion.
